Although he had not been in the best of health for some time, his death was unexpected. He had been active in community affairs for many years. He belonged to the Clarksville Masonic Lodge, the Farm Bureau, a World War I veteran’s organization known as the “Barracks”, and had held a membership in the local Grange for 56 years. Survivors are his wife, formerly June Coles; a son, Bruce of So. Boston; two daughters, Mrs. Doris McCaul of Lake Odessa and Miss Carol at home; eight grand-children, two brothers, Chris of South Boston, and John of Lowell; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Tallant of Lowell, and Mrs. Alice Blahnik of New Buffalo, Mich. And several nieces and nephews. Largely attended funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Clarksville Bible Church with Rev. Donald Mathis officiating. Interment with Masonic rites, in South Boston Cemetery. Relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Blahnik of New Buffalo, Michigan, Hobart Coles of Fulton, New York, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gardner of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Coles, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pasanew, Jim Coles and Kathy Szabo of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oersch, Ernest and Walter Wittenbach and Mrs. Martha Nash of Belding, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Christofferson of Sydney, Mr. and Mrs. Niles Cross and Mr. and Mrs. William Beach of Entrican, Mrs. Anna Neilsen of Edmore, Mr. and Mrs. John Geiger and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Geiger of Sunfield, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Chester Hillsburg and son of Muskegon and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sebastian of Charlotte.
