Lake Odessa Wave-times September 13, 1928

PIONEER RESIDENT JOINS MAJORITY
One less of our worthy pioneers left us to join the majority in our overlooking 
white city.

Mrs Catherine Fair, whose father was Daniel Gerkey and who came to this part of 
the country in an early day, passed to her reward last Saturday morning.

The funeral was held at the home here Monday afternoon. The pastor, Rev.G.J. 
Start preached and burial was at Lake Side cemetery.

She leaves two sons and two daughter, Grant, and Florence Hurlbut of Lake 
Odessa, Mrs.Nettie Rynburn of Grand rapids and Charles of near Grant.

Mrs.Fair was 81 years of age and her husband, who survives her is 84 years of 
age. Mrs Fair died of cerebral hemorrhages. She was tenderly cared for by her 
daughters.

Thus one by one our early settlers are leaving us.
