The Portland Observer, Thursday, January 11, 1934

Mrs. Clara Fales, 71, a prominent Belding woman and a cousin by marriage of 
Mrs. Frank L. Jenkins and Mrs. Nettie Selleck, died at the home of her niece, 
Mrs. George Dye, in Ionia, Monday.  She was the widow of Elmer Fales, on-time 
mayor and postmaster of Belding, and Ionia county sheriff.
