For a number of years Mr. Fales’ health had been impaired due to an organic ailment and it seems most lamentable that so capable and young a man should lose out in the battle for life. Palmer Fales was the eldest son of the late Elmer E. Fales and Mrs. Clara Fales, of Ionia, having been born October 31, 1884. He grew to manhood in this section, attended the local schools, later studied in Big Rapids and was graduated from the University of Michigan in 1907 with a degree of bachelor of law. In 1909 he was admitted to the bar in the state of Oregon and became a member of Platt & Platt law firm. Mr. Fales was a specialist in banking laws and for many years was an active member of a firm which was consulted throughout the state in banking matters. Funeral services were held on the morning of October 13th in Portland, interment was made there. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Florence Wagner Fales, a former Belding girl; two daughters, Miss Jane Fales, a senior at the University of Oregon, and Miss Mary Fales, at home; also his mother, Mrs. Clare Fales of Ionia. His only brother, Hugo E. Fales, was killed while in the service of his country during the World war. Mr. Fales leaves a host of friends who offer sympathy to the bereaved family.
