Bernice Marie Falsetta, aged 79, of Ionia, passed away Feb. 11, 2008.  She was 
born Sept. 5, 1928 in Ionia, Mich., the daughter of Burton and Gladys B. 
(Rhoades) Helmer.  She attended Welch School, Easton Township and Ionia High 
School.  She married Jack G. Falsetta Aug. 23, 1948 in Ionia; he preceded her 
in death in 2006.

She worked for First Security Bank, Gibson Refrigeration, Ionia Free Fair and 
Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  Bernie was involved in the Ionia Boy Scouts, 
helped at the Ionia Free Fair First Aid Dept. for 42 years, American Red 
Cross, Ionia Child Abuse, American Lung Association, Ionia Area Hospice, PTG 
Emerson School, Ionia County Co-Women of the County Award, 2003 Michigan First 
Lady Award and Master Plan Committee for Ionia County.

Bernie was very involved with the Ionia Hospital where she belonged to Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital Lafayette/Hale Guild, volunteered at the hospital, 
Health Care Advocate at ICMH, Hospital Benefits and the Ethics Committee as 
well.

She is survived by her sons; Michael (Mary Anne) Falsetta of Texas, Timothy 
(Olivia) Falsetta of South Dakota, Patrick (Nadine Reyes) Falsetta of Grand 
Rapids and Thomas (JoAnne) Falsetta of Ionia; sister Charlotte (Don) Gilmore 
of Ionia; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and five nieces and 
nephews.  Bernice is preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles 
Helmer.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Zion 
United Methodist Church with Pastor Clifford Allen officiating.  In lieu of 
flowers you may make contributions to Ionia Hospital Emergency Room.
