FANDEL Frank J. Fandel, 82, of 441 West Grand River Avenue, Portland, died March 30 at a Lansing Hospital. Mr. Fandel was born February 18, 1896 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Fandel. His wife, Mary, preceded him in death in 1968. Mr. Fandel is survived by one son, Chris Fandel of Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Mae Schrauben and Mrs. Eloise Gilbert of Portland; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother , Herman Fandel of Westphalia; and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Rademacher of Westphalia, Mrs. Nora Brown of Fowler, and Mrs. Elizabeth Droste of Westphalia. Mr. Fandel was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Portland American Legion Post. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday (April 3) at St.Patrick's with the Rev. Father Donald weber officiating. Rosary was Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at Nellers. Pallbearers were Larry Schrauben, Fred Schrauben, Frank Fandel, Terry Gilbert, Jeff Gilbert, and Gerald Werner.
