Fanning and Mrs. Chandler Haight, father and daughter, were held from the Methodist Episcopal church in this city last Saturday afternoon, Rev. Joseph H. Green officiating in the absence of Rev. C. J. Kruse, pastor, who was confined to his home at the time though illness. The edifice was crowded during the hour of the obsequies, and it is seldom there has been a greater outpouring of genuine sympathy than that manifested as the last rites were said in memory of two beloved characters, who had written their imprint upon all that was good and holy in the life of this community. Following the obsequies the bodies were taken to Highland park cemetery and placed in the vault of the Louis Schmoltz family until spring, when it is said the remains of Mr. Fanning will be taken to his old home at Stanton for interment. The bearers for Mrs. Haight were Dr. Lee Haight, Wallace Haight, Frank Kaphart, Horatio Pramalee, Herbert Everest, and Nelson Powell. The bearers for Mr. Fanning were A. H. Tuttle, R. A. Hawley, Dr. F. M. Marsh, H. E. Kidder, O. W. Slocum, and R. A. Colwell. The following were here from away to attend the funeral services: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kaphart and daughter Edith Parmlee and son Horatio, of Flint; Mrs. Lena Burgeon, of Charlevoix; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kephart and daughter Patricia, of Traverse City (Mrs. Parmlee, Mrs. Burgeon, and Mrs. Kephart are sisters of Mrs. Haight); Mrs. E. L. Haight, Miss Loessa Haight, Dr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Haight, of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Everest and daughter Janette, of Royal Oak; Dr. and Mrs. Lee Haight, of Bellevue; Miss May Alexander, of Detroit, and Mrs. George Percival and Mrs. Cameron.
