She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Behrendt and was born in Germany, October 26, 1851. Mrs. Fantow celebrated her 86th birthday last week. With her husband, Charles Fantow, she came to Detroit 54 years ago and after residing there for 14 years, they made their home in Ionia county for 40 years, the last 16 of which Mrs. Fantow spent at her home in South Ionia. She was baptized and married in the German Lutheran church in Germany and she was a member of the Rebekah lodge. At the time of his death in 1930, her husband was the oldest guard at the Michigan reformatory. For a number of years he had a blacksmith shop in Ionia. She is survived by five children, Robert Fantow and Otto Fantow of Detroit, Mrs. Frieda Sterns of Ionia, and Mrs. Martha Quigley and Mrs. Minnie Alexander of South Ionia. She also had another daughter, Mrs. Marie Dake who died in 1931. Two brothers, William Behrendt and Paul Behrendt and a sister, Mrs. Marie Meyers of Detroit, also survive her. Funeral services will be held from her home in South Ionia Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. R. A. Rook officiating. Burial will be at the family lot at Easton cemetery.
