Fargo Called To Rest After Months of Suffering Finally Succumbs to Disease A Good Man Gone Home. Final Summons Came Tuesday – Was Founder of Fargo Shoe Co. Burial in Chicago Last Tuesday morning, after months of suffering following a seeming complete breakdown, death came to the relief of William H. Fargo, founder of the Fargo Shoe Co., and a highly respected citizen of our community. The final summons came about 9:30 o’clock and was simply an end to an unconscious condition which had held him for several days. William H. Fargo came to this city about six years ago and interested our citizens in a proposition to establish a shoe factory in Belding. After proper negotiations had been completed, the factory was opened and another industry was added to our thriving city. A hard working man he with his son Buel carried the enterprise along in good shape until about the first of last March when he was suddenly stricken in the fullness of his manhood with some strange malady which at once incapacitated him for further work along business lines. Gradually the insidious disease undermind his strong constitution until at length the inevitable end came to his relief. Mr. Fargo was about fifty-five years of age and up to the time of his last illness had been quite strong and rugged. He leaves a devoted and loving wife, one son George Buel Fargo and three daughters, Mrs. Roy Reynolds, Miss Ruth and Miss Margaret all of this city. Funeral services were held at the late home at one o’clock Wednesday afternoon and the remains were taken to his former home in Chicago for interment. An autopsy conducted Tuesday afternoon revealed the fact that his death was largely due to a stomach trouble for which there seemed to be no help. A good man has crossed the great divide and those of us who have known him so well and favorably will know him no more forever.
