Isaac Farrer, aged 78 years, and a veteran of the Civil war, died this morning at 2:30 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. A. Greenhoe, 215 North Dexter street. Mr. Farrer was an old resident of Muir, and had been at the home of his daughter the past five or six weeks, death following an illness of three weeks. Deceased was born in Genesee, N. Y., July 6, 1839. Sept. 20, 1861, he enlisted at Warsaw, N. Y., in Company A, 9th New York Cavalry, was promoted to sergeant, and went through the entire service with his regiment, which has an enviable record. June 9, 1863, he was wounded in the right foot by a fragment of shell at Beverly Ford, and was again wounded May 30, 1864, at Cold Harbor, in the breast by a spent ball, and was in the regimental hospital for some time. He bore a conspicuous part in the fierce engagements of Jones Ford, Second Bull Run, Beverly Ford, Cold Harbor, Gettysburg, Fredericksburg, and more than a score of other battles of the war, and was honorably discharged July 15, 1865 at Clouds Mills, Va. Nov. 28, 1869 he was married to Mary Stout at her home in Allegan county, Michigan, and three children were born to them, George, now deceased; Mrs. C. A. Greenhoe, and Mrs. Wm. Seabrook of this city. Mr. Farrer was a member of Dresser Post, 100, G.A.R. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Greenhoe and the remains will be taken to Muir Thursday for burial.
