Funeral Services Held For Karl C. Faul

Karl C. Faul, 67, former Woodland Village President and clerk passed away Sunday 
afternoon at Pennock hospital after a two months illness.

A native of Woodland, his parents were Ludwig and Catherine Velte Faul and he as 
a lifelong resident of the community. A 1913 graduate of the Woodland High 
School, he was also a graduate of the McLaughlin Business University in Grand 
Rapids.

He married Grace M. Benham, August 1, 1921.

Mr. Faul was associated in the Faul Hardware at Woodland with his family for 
many years, was vice president and director of the Woodland Mutual Fire 
Insurance Co, had served as volunteer fireman, past treasurer of the Recreation 
Assoc., general chairman of the Lakewood school planning association of the 
Woodland area, former deputy sheriff for Barry County and was very active in 
many community and civic affairs. He attended the First Church of Christ, 
Scientist, of Hastings.

A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the V.F.W. A member of the F&AM 
lodge no. 304 of Woodland, and he was a past master and treasurer, a member of 
the Laurel Chapter no. 31, O.ES., Nashville. Mr. Faul had served as village 
clerk and president for 15 years or more, vacating the office in the early 
1940's.

Surviving are his wife, Grace; a daughter, Mrs. George (Marda) Salisbury of 
Orlando, Fla.; a son Roger of Birmingham; five grandchildren and a brother 
Lawrence of Woodland.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel 
with Richard K. Palmer of Grand Rapids as the Reader, and under the auspices of 
the F&AM lodge. Burial in the Woodland Memorial cemetery.
