Faust, 97, of Ionia died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996 at Heartland Health Care Center. She was born in Nashville on May 10, 1899 the daughter of William and Ellen (Guntrip) Troxel. She attended local rural schools and was raised on a farm. She married Oscar Flory and moved to Hastings, where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Willys Overland Car Dealership. She married Ray Freeman in Angola, Ind., in 1931 and they lived in Charlotte then on a farm in Nashville. She owned the Vermontville Restaurant in 1944, The Clarksville Tavern, and worked for the Ida Trumble Tavern in Vermontville in the 1960s. Mr. Freeman died in 1966 and she later married Leslie Faust in 1970 in Reno, Nevada, and moved to Barryton and wintered in Florida. Mr. Faust died in 1989. She belonged to the Nashville V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her son: Glendon (Beaulah) Flory of Ionia; her daughter: Bernita (Gaylord) Gardner of Vermontville; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several stepchildren and step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her three husbands; her infant son: Hubert Glendon Flory; great-grandson: Donnie Flory; and her brothers: Ervin and Vernard Troxel. Burial will be at Dowling Cemetery.
