Faxon was born at Depoville?, Jefferson Co., N. Y. Dec. 23, 1827, and died in Lyons township, Mich., April 9, 1913. He came with his parents to Adrian, Mich., in 1834 where he lived until 1853. On Jan. 1st, 1853 he was married to Miss Anna Chase and with her came to Ionia county, Mich., in March 1853 and settled on a farm two and one-half miles southeast of Lyons village where he has lived more than 60 years. His wife died Dec. 25, 1890. Mr. Faxon was truly a pioneer in this county; he has lived to see many changes occur in this part of the country. He was an honest, industrious and successful farmer, and he built up a beautiful and comfortable home for himself and family. He was modest and retiring in manner and yet took a lively interest in all of the affairs of life around him. Mr. Faxon was a great reader and kept well posted in all public interests; he was a very pleasant man to converse with. He was a kind and faithful father and husband, a true and loyal friend, highly esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loss four children and their families: Mrs. D. S. Johnson, George D. Faxon, Mrs. Theodore Millspaugh and Louis C. Faxon; and a brother, Murray Faxon, of Traverse City. Mr. Faxon will be remembered by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. The funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Wm. Judd. The text chosen was Job 14: 14, “All the days of my appointed time will I wait, ‘till my change come,” and the words spoken were full of beautiful and comforting thoughts. The music was furnished by Mesdames A. E. Bradt, W. A. Grant and C. H. Randall. The pall bearers were the sons, L. C. and G. D. Faxon, and the son-in-laws, D. S. Johnson and T. F. Millspaugh.
