Scott was born June 27, 1962 in Ionia to Gerald R. Fell and Judith Al Fell (Benedict) VanderVeen. Scott grew up in Lyons and Ionia. He attended Twin Rivers and Ionia Jr. and Sr. High School. Graduating with the class of 1980. Scott attended trade school after high school. Scott was an amazingly talented trumpet player and started in Jr. high school. He continued playing through high school, won awards and was first chair in senior year. He passed his love of jazz and band to his children, grandchildren and countless youngsters in Ionia public schools. He was active with thee high school jazz band and annual band camps for many year. He inspired many to believe in their talents and was their #1 fan. Scott was also a talented and well known guitar player and also shared his love of thrash metal with many. He was in several bands through out his life time and taught several young people in the community to play. He is best known for his ability to "shred" on his guitar. He was active in Ionia community and, he was a founding member of Contact Buzz and was most recently in the unknown Band. He made many life long friendships in the music community. Scott also had a love of U of M sports and was an avid fan of Football and basketball. He was also a fan of anyone playing OSU! Scott was well known for his sarcasm, quick wit and the gift of words. Scott loved cars, especially his mustangs. Most of all he loved his family and friends who will miss him dearly. Scott is survived by his wife Keli Fell of Cedar Springs, daughter Heather (Ron) Stacy of Portland, son Zachary Fell (Samantha) of Pewamo, daughter Catherine Fell of Grand Rapids and step-son Tyler Woods of Cedar Springs. Grandchildren Hunter, Jenna, Cameron and Jackson Stacey, Memphis Fell, TayLynn Schneider. Mother Judy VanderVeen and step father Bob of Ionia, step mother Sharon Fell of Portland. Brothers, Jon VanderVeen (Deb) of Grand Rapids, Derek VanderVeen. Sister Stacy (Bob) Nurenberg of Woodland. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless in laws and outlaws. Proceeded in death by his farther Gerald, grandparents Jane and Albert Benedict and Don and Rosella Fell. And several very special people in Scott's life. Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a celebration of life at Hazel DeVore Park in Lyons on June 26th 2021 from 2pm-6pm please bring a memory of Scott to share with his children.
