February 20, 1947 RAY FENDER, Sr., FUNERAL TUESDAY Ray Fender Sr., 58, did suddenly at his home on Lakeview Drive early Friday evening. He was born February 10, 1889, in Sebewa township. He as a veteran of world War I of nearly two years service. He had made his home in this community most of his entire life except for a short period at Hastings. Mr.Fender had been in the garage business here for about 25 years. He was a member of the local Masonic lodge and the LaVerne Demaray post of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife Irene; a son, Ray, Jr., at Hastings; a daughter, Mrs Norma Vessels at Flint; a sister Mrs Dora Everest here, and one brother Ellsworth at Dowling; also three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Pickens chapel Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Victor W.Thrall officiating. Interment was in Lake Side cemetery under the auspices of the local post of the Legion.
