Ex-Ionia Veterinary Died Friday.

Dr. William H. Ferguson, 84, of Haslitt, Ionia veterinarian for 44 years, died 
about 10:30 p.m. Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mary Eddy, of Tampa, 
Fla., where he and his wife has been visiting for the winter.

Dr. Ferguson practiced veterinary medicine in the Ionia vicinity continuously 
from his graduation from Grand Rapids Conkey Veterinary school in 1905 until 
his retirement in 1947.  Most of the time he lived at Tremayne’s Corners 
although the last few years were spent in his home on North Dexter street.  At 
the time of his retirement he and his wife moved to Haslitt to make their home.

He was born at Maple Corners January 2, 1868, the son of Lewis and Mary 
Ferguson.  He was married to Allie Ritenberg June 22, 1887, at the home of her 
parents at Maple Corners.  In 1947, they celebrated their sixtieth wedding 
anniversary while still Ionia residents.  If Dr. Ferguson had lived until June 
of this year they would have been married 65 years.

Surviving besides Mrs. Ferguson are four daughters, Mrs. Eddy of Tampa, Fla., 
Mrs. Exie Elliot of Haslitt, Mrs. Donna Gadbois of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Wilma 
Campbell of Fowlerville; and several grandchildren.  A son and daughter 
preceded him in death.

The body is scheduled to arrive in Grand Rapids Monday morning. Tentative 
funeral arrangements have been made for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Boynton 
funeral home.  Dr. Paul Stewart will officiate and burial will be in Tuttle 
cemetery.
