Donald H. Ferguson Jr., 74, was lifted from the arms of his family into the 
heart of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 26, 2013.  He was born Nov. 
10, 1939, in Ionia, Mich., the son of Donald Sr. and Mae (Thomas) Ferguson.

Don was a tireless warrior against his many health problems, and a true example 
of faith and courage to all who knew him.  He was gifted in his communication 
and wisdom to the kids and loved his opportunity to be a blessing while making 
a first home a dream for many.  Don was an incredible father and grandfather 
and will be remembered with love by all the grandchildren whom he was so 
generous with and whom lit up his world. 

Don was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church for 43 years.  He worked 
for Kroger as a meat cutter for 27 years and later was a real estate agent for 
27 years until retiring in 2013.  Don will be lovingly remembered by his 
beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy; his four children and spouses: Steve and 
Karen, Brian and Nelfa, Tom and Teresa, and Scott and Lisa; along with 19 
grandchildren and one great grandchild; and brothers Ken and Doug Ferguson.

He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Brittany Lauren, Kaden, Kaleb 
and Emma Grace; daughter-in-law, Kim Ferguson; brother, Mick Ferguson; and 
sister, Patricia McWilliams.


A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at Lincoln Avenue 
Baptist Church with a luncheon to follow.  Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. 
Sunday, Dec. 29 at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Memorial contributions may be 
made in Donald's name to the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church.
