She was born on Nov. 9, 1982, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Gary and Janice (Pohl) Ferguson. She enjoyed sports, especially the N.F.L. and the Miami Dolphins. Rena attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School., graduated from Ionia High School in 2001, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Michigan University. She worked for several law firms in Florida and Michigan, and currently worked for Dickinson Wright in Ann Arbor. Born with a heart defect, Rena always knew tomorrow was not a guarantee, so she lived life to the fullest. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Linus and Irene Pohl, and Cliff Ferguson; uncle, Barry Ferguson. Surviving are her parents, Janice and Gary; sisters, Rae Lyn Ferguson, Gentry Rose (Christina Jacobs) Ferguson, and Mara Leigh (Mark Fate) Ferguson; niece, Klae Marie Courter; nephew, Kaleb Sean Courter; her dog, Champ Bailey; special grandma, Virginia Ferguson; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Rena, you were a special “Golden Thread”, bringing and holding people together for a lifetime. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia, with Rev. Peter Vu presiding. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
