Jo Ann Marie Fernholz, age 67, of Ionia, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2004.
She was born on February 3, 1937 in Portland, the daughter of Harold and 
Marguerite (Fedewa) Fernholz.

Jo Ann was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia and she had 
deep spiritual beliefs as well as a strong personal relationship with God.  
She loved her work as well as volunteering at the Ionia County Commission on 
Aging and Family Independence Agency.

Preceding her in death are her parents; grandmother, Minnie Fedewa. Surviving 
are her brother, Paul (Elizabeth) Fernholz of Muir; sisters, Dolores (Mark) 
Schmitt of Hubbardston, Sandra (Joe) Meyers of Ionia and Janice (Jim) Maynard 
of Ionia; and many nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Melvin Fox at 11 
a.m. on Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia. Rite of 
Committal will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Portland Cemetery that day.  The 
family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 
Wednesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia, and 
from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. A rosary will be prayed at 8 
p.m. Wednesday evening.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be 
made to the Ionia Area Hospice, Ionia County Commission on Aging or SS. Peter 
and Paul Educational Trust Fund, in memory of Jo Ann M. Fernholz.
