All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nan Wheaton wheaton1624@yahoo.com January 3, 2017, 1:46 am Daily Sentinel-Standard (Pg. 1) - Thursday, April 18, 1929 VETERAN OF WORLK A WAR FOUND DEAD William Ferris, Holder of War Decoration, Dies in Night at His Home William Ferris, a World war veteran, was found dead in bed at his home, 252 Adams street, Thursday morning by Mrs. Ferris when she went to ascertain the reason why Mr. Ferris had not arisen at the customary hour. Mr. Ferris was employed at the Ypsilanti-Reed factory and worked as usual Wednesday. Wednesday evening he retired seemingly as well as usual. It is thought that he died early in the night. He was born in Montcalm county 37 years ago. He served 18 months in the World War and three years ago received a Croix de Guerre certificate for bravery during heavy battle. He himself suffered much during the months he served in the war. He longed to the one hundred and twenty-fifth infantry, 32nd division of the American Expeditionary forces. Following the war, he lived for a time in Flint and five years ago came to Ionia to live. He is survived by his widow; his mother, Mrs. Eva Johnson; a brother Vernon A. Ferris, Detroit, and a sister in Terra Haute, Ind. The funeral services will be held from Boynton's undertaking parlors Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. W. F. Kendrick will be in charge. The interment will be in the Highland Park cemetery.
