She was born on March 23, 1939, in Prudenville, MI to Beatrice James Reed and James Thompson Reed. Nola was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a cherished friend to many. Venola was married twice and outlived both of her husbands, Roland Franklin Reid, d.1969 and Jan Wesley Figel d. 2017. She was a mother to five children, Debbie Reid, Edward Reid d.2001, Lora Reid Brewer, Roland Reid and Jon Figer (Jennifer), a grandmother to seven grandchildren, Michael Winner(Kimberly), Roland Brewer (Rachel) Ryan Wiles (Melissa), Rachel Herrera (Zachary), Marilyn Brewer (Austin), Jonathan Figel, and Clair Figel, and a great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren. Venola had a passion for cooking and crafting of all kinds and enjoyed drawing n her free time.She was known for her creativity and usually had a smile on her face when she was working on a project (unless it made her frustrated). She loved God and was helpful to many people throughout her life. Venola was a quietly strong woman who survived two husband, polio, cancer, and the loss of her son Edward. Despite the many challenges she faced in life, she showed unwavering strength and resilience. In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Anita Knox (Jim) and brother, Eugene Reed (Karol), and many other beloved family members and friends. She will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held in July 2023 (date to be published later) at Bertha Brock Park in Ionia.
