Shirley Ann was born on November 25, 1931, the daughter of Everett and Eva (Carrington) Taylor in Lansing, MI. On June 4, 1952, she married the love of her life, Lewis Finkel, and spent 62 years of marriage together. Shirley Ann was a devoted wife and mother and took great joy in her family. She was a great cook and baker and loved making delicious meals for her family. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed history. She was a woman of faith and was a great prayer warrior for family and loved ones. Shirley Ann enjoyed her years in Bible Study fellowship, and 30 years singing in the church choir. She loved summer vacations at Maranatha Bible Conference. She loved and cherished her grandchildren. It brought her much joy to welcome each new great-grandchild into her family and heart.Shirley Ann will be remembered for her cheerful disposition and her "Hi Yah" to everyone she met at Heather Hills retirement Village., where she spent the last 4 1/2 years of hr life. She will be deeply missed by her friend and family. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Corewell Hospice for the loving and attentive care in her final days. She is survived by her children, Luanne VanAndel of California, Dianne (Steve) VanHouten of Ionia, Peggy (Todd) Lincoln of Grand Rapids and Craig (Lisa) Finkel of Grand Rapids; sister, Dolores Quackenbush; grandchildren Tommy (Megan) VanAndel, Laura (Will) Vogel, Matthew VanAndel, Chad (Angela)VanHouten, Todd (Leslie) VanHouten, Troy (Kristen)VanHouten, Andrew Lincoln, Aaron (Ashlee) Lincoln,Alex (Sadie)Lincoln, Emmalynn (Tyler) Sigler, Paul(Jessie) Finkel, Taylor (Matt) Keipert, Brian (Jenna) Finkel and Lauryn Finkel; soon to be 20 great-grandchildren, and her loving nieces and nephews. Shirley Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; and brother- in-law, Harold Quackenbush. A funeral service was held at 11 AMFriday, March 15,2024 at Galilee Baptist Church in Saranac, with Pastor Ryan Morter officiating. Visitation was from 4-7 PM Thursday, March 14, at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Memorial Contributions may be made to Galilee Baptist Church.
