Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 6 Dec 1948

Mrs. Joseph First, 77, died at her home in Orange township at 7:45 o’clock 
Sunday evening, December 5, following a prolonged illness.

Surviving her are the husband, Joseph; a son, Glenn; three grandsons, Neal, 
John and Richard First; a brother, Leonard Hall, of Ovid; four sisters, Mrs. 
Addie Linebaugh of Orange, Mrs. Mina Snyder and Mrs. Hattie Catt of Ionia and 
Mrs. Lillian Steeby of Wayland; and a stepson, Lee First of Orange.

Services will be held at the LeValley Methodist church at 2 p.m. Tuesday with 
the Rev. Willis B. Hunting officiating.  Interment will be at Portland cemetery.
