Ionia County News - Thursday, April 23, 1959

Glenn K. First Fatally Stricken Friday, April 17

The LeValley Methodist Church was the site Tuesday, April 21, of the funeral 
service for Glenn K. First, 56, prominent Orange Township farmer, who died 
unexpectedly in the Ionia County Memorial Hospital on Friday night, April 17.

Rev. J. Lawrence Ward officiated. Burial was in Portland Cemetery.

While Mr. First had been hospitalized for some time, his death came as a shock 
to the community.

Prominent in agricultural circles, he had also played an important role in 
township activities serving as Orange township clerk for many years.

He was secretary of the Ionia County Agricultural Council and served as a 
member of the Ionia County Agricultural Stabilization Committee.

He is survived by his wife Irma, three sons, Neil and Richard, both of East 
Lansing; and John of Ionia; and a half-brother, Lee First of Muir.

Funeral arrangements were by the Boynton Funeral Home.
