First, 50, 503 S. Bridge St., Belding, died Thursday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital after an illness of one month. He was born November 25, 1933, in Mecosta County, and was a lifetime resident of the Belding area and a retired former. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion, Hugo Fales Post 203 of Belding. He is survived by four daughters Mrs. Constance Frisbie of Smyrna, Tenn., Mrs. Kendra Dhanene of London, England, Mrs. Carol Nielsen of Belding and Christine Flanery of Belding, one son Eugene First of Fenwick; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Olsen of Ionia, Mrs. Pauline Wolverton of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Doris Gregory of Mecosta and Mrs. Joan Youngs of Belding, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 pm from the Charles M. Courser Funeral Home in Belding with Rev. Kenneth D. Harger from Shiloh Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Orleans Cemetery. Visitation is on Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 8:30 pm. Memorial has been established for the Sons of the American Legion in care of the funeral home.
