Born June 18, 1952, in Lansing, the son of Donald Arthur and Aleta Hunt Fish, Duane was raised in Lansing and was a 1970 graduate of Sexton High School. He was a Big Bay resident for the past eight years, previously residing in Belding where he worked for Electrolux. Duane and his wife Mary were the owners and operators of Big Bay Motel, which they established in November of 1996. Duane was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting—especially bear hunting—and riding ATVs. He was a collector of antique snowmobiles and enjoyed a good game of football. Known for his keen sense of humor, he was inclined to the “tease.” Duane greatly cherished his family and friends and was especially proud of his grandchildren. Duane was a member of the Big Bay antique Snowmobile Association and the Big Bay Sportsman’s Club. A loving husband and father, proud grandparent, son and brother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Moon Fish, whom he married on May 31, 1966; daughter, Danielle Jo Fish and her fiancé Rob Anderson of Belding; two sons, Duane Arthur and Angela Fish of Ionia, Daniel Donald Fish of Greenville; grandsons, Joseph Wayne Fish, Malachi Xavier McCumber, soon-to-be-expected Dylan Robert Anderson; parents Donald and Aleta Fish of Big Bay; sister, Bonnie Lou Norris of Bradenton, Florida; parents-in-law, Janet and Calvin King of Cedar Springs, Kathy Moon of Sand Lake. Funeral services are 1 p.m. today at Fassbender Funeral Home, Marquette, with Capt. Christine LaTourneau, of the Salvation Army, officiating. Additional services are 3 p.m. Friday at Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church, officiating. Burial is in Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore.
