She was born in Kevil, Kentucky, on August 12, 1918 the daughter of Lonnie and Willie Grief. Mrs. Fisher was a long time resident of Ionia, moving to Schenectady, New York in 1988. She was a bus driver for the Ionia Public Schools for 18 years, as well as working for Koss Drug Store, retiring from both positions. She was a former member of the Eastern Star as well as a former member of the First Baptist Church of Ionia. She married Thomas Alexander in 1938 who preceded her in death in 1982. Surviving are her loving husband, George Fisher of Schenectady, NY, whom she married in August 1999; son, Dennis Alexander of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter, Nancy (Ed) Sleder of North Carolina; grandchildren, Cristy Stoddard of Hubbardston, Greg (Tammy) Alexander of Ionia, Ted (Marilyn) Sleder of Dexter, Susan (Neville) Manohar of Saline, and Tom (Dana) Sleder of Garden City; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Gregory, and Joshua Stoddard, Thomas Alexander, Charles and Audrey Sleder, and Alex Manohar; brother, L.W. (Louise) Grief of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and four brothers. The funeral service will be held at Cook Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia, Saturday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Kendall Harger, Associate Pastor of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Balcom Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the time of service.
