She was raised on the farm and stayed with friends of her family so she could graduate from Greenville High School in 1942. During the Depression and when she was very young her father died in an accident. As a young person she liked dancing and traveling. For 20 years Julia worked as a sewer for General Motors on Alpine. She was a member of the Good Sams Club, an RV club that liked to travel. For leisure time, Julia enjoyed painting, sewing and gardening. Her children were blessed to have a mother who taught them responsibility and good work ethics. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas; daughter-in-law, Carol Bailey; and grandson, David Bailey. She is survived by her children, Barry and Judy Bailey of Greenville, Brian and Linda Bailey of Rockford, Randy and Brenda Bailey of Gowen, Connie and William Hopkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; their father, William Rex Bailey of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Elton Crawford of Turk Lake; and several nieces and nephews. The service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford, with the Rev. Dick Riley officiating. Interment is in Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends may meet with Julia’s family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
