Portland Review & Observer - Feb. 5, 2012

Portland - Arthur H. Fisher, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

Mr. Fisher was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church, a veteran of 
World War II, serving in the United States Army, a member of the Portland 
V.F.W. Post #4090, as well as a member of F&AM #31. Art was retired from the 
City of Portland and the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, 
was an avid and skilled wood carver, and loved going for a morning walk. Art 
will always be remembered for his smile, humor and wit. On May 29, 1945 he 
married Mary Gilchrist, and together they shared 63 years of marriage.

She preceded him in death in 2008. Also preceding him in death were his 
parents. Surviving are his son, Larry (Bobbie) Fisher of Three Oaks; daughter, 
Bobbie (Jim) Thompson of Portland; grandchildren, Patrick (Carol) Thompson, 
Luke Thompson, James (Karen) Fisher and Melissa (Fiancé, Randy) Fisher; great 
grandchildren, Kevin and Nick Thompson, and Cody and Wyatt Fisher.

The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 
Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with Pastor Keith Treman 
of the Portland United Methodist Church presiding. Interment will follow at 
Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 
11:00 until the time of the service on Thursday. For those desiring, memorial 
contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Arthur.
