The funeral will occur at 1:30 p.m. at the Baptist Church, Cook’s Corners. Nathaniel Fisk, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of the township of Otisco, died at his home half a mile south of Cook’s Corners on Wednesday, March 21. The funeral took place at Cook’s Corners this afternoon. Mr. Fisk settled in Otisco and located the farm where he died in 1839, and was always a hard-working, industrious citizen and well-to-to farmer. He emigrated from Massachusetts to Michigan, coming from Detroit to Ionia with teams, and belonged to that steady Puritan stock that settled so much of the township of Otisco. He was married in Massachusetts before coming west to Miss Sophia Keats, who survives him. Four children were born of this union, all daughters, three of whom are now living, viz: Mrs. Marshal Stoughton, of Otisco; Mrs. F.L. Reeves and Mrs. W.E. Root of Ionia. It only lacks a year of half a century since the Fisks settled in Otisco, and they have during all these years been held in the highest esteem by all their neighbors and acquaintances. Deceased was 77 years of age. – Ionia Sentinel, March 23. [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation of “1888” on the obituary card.
