She was visiting a lady friend in Toledo, and they were down town shopping, when they decided to go to Maumee. Her friend would not drive her own car on account of the slippery condition of the roads, so a taxi was secured for the trip. When returning, about a mile out of Maumee, the taxi turned out for a team; the chauffeur lost control of the machine and it ran up a high bank and tipped over backwards. The friend and the chauffeur were uninjured, but Miss Fiske was caught by the car and the top of her head nearly cut off. She only lived a few minutes. Edna Clare Fiske was born in Lyons February 24th, 1888, and was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Fiske. She went with her parents to Detroit to live in 1898, where she resided until two years ago when she went to Ortonville to live. She was educated in the public schools of Lyons and Detroit, and later attended the Academy at Monroe. She was baptized in the Episcopal church at Lyons in 1895. She is survived by her mother, Dr. Annette B. Fiske of Detroit, and a brother, Mark Fiske. The body was brought to Lyons Saturday night, and funeral services held Monday afternoon from the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy F. Beck, conducted by Rev. Clair Nease of the M.E. church. Interment in the Lyons cemetery. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/f/fiske13116nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
