Portland Observer, 7 Feb 1900

Mrs. Eliza Fitch, formerly of Portland, died at a private hospital in Detroit 
from the effects of an operation for cancer on Saturday last.  She was the 
daughter of John Gibbs’ step-mother, and the mother of Mrs. Will Stevens and 
Ben Fitch.  She had been living at Monroe up to a few months ago for some 
time.  She was 49 years of age.
