The Portland Observer, Wednesday, 20, 1893


The remains of Mrs. Sarah Fitch, who died at North Lansing on Thursday last, 
were brought to Portland on the noon train on Friday and deposited in the 
vault at the cemetery.  Mrs. Fitch was a sister of Alva Hopkins of this 
village, and was aged 75 years.  

Funeral services for the deceased were conducted from the Methodist church on 
Saturday morning.  The cause of Mrs. Fitch’s death was pneumonia.
