Ethel M. Fitzgerald, 94, of Ionia, died Wednesday at the Ionia County Memorial
Hospital.  She was born August 3, 1899, in Blanchard, the daughter of John and
Charlotte Wilkinson Simmons.

She married John J. Fitzgerald on September 6, 1922, and they lived their entire
married lives in Ionia.  He preceded her in death on November 30, 1950.  She was
a member of Saints Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Ionia.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice Duell of Richardson, Texas; two
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Myrtle Hall of Clio. 
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Cora and Helen; and four brothers,
Orlo, Claude, Vern and Linn.

Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic
Church in Ionia, with the Rev. Charles Hall officiating, and Mary Cusack as
organist.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Randy
Duell, Jeff Duell, Marc Fennell, Thomas Fennell, Bill Lynch and Larry Andres. 
The family will be at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia from 2-6 p.m. Sunday.  The
Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  A memorial for
Ss. Peter and Paul’s School library has been established in care of the funeral
home.
