The funeral services were held Monday at 9:30 a.m., at the Hubbardston Catholic church conducted by Rev. Doyle. Interment in Hubbardston cemetery. When about 17 years of age he came with his parents to Canada, taking four months to make the voyage. on February 21, 1861 he and Miss Ellen Bowen of Maydock, Canada, were married. Throughout their 56 years of married life she has been to him always a loving and helpful companion. Forty-five years ago they came to Lebanon to make their home, then a wilderness, where they resided until eleven years ago, when they moved to Hubbardston. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom are living: Mrs. Lizzie Lawless and Mrs. Ella Lawless of near Portland, Mrs. Rose McDermott of Hubbardston, Mrs. Agnes Bower of Carson, Mrs. Etta Wright of near Muir, Edmund of Denver, Colo., James of Lebanon and John Jr., on the old homestead. All were present at the services except one daughter, Mrs. Agnes Bower, who is ill in the St. John’s hospital. Besides his wife and children he leaves 23 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. L.P. Piggott of Lebanon, three brothers, Dennis of Clare, William of Mt. Pleasant and Edmund of Lebanon and many relatives and friends. Six of his grandsons acted as pall bearers. Mr. Fitzpatrick was truly a pioneer. He has seen this portion develop and had personal knowledge of all the wonderful changes since his earliest recollection. He has always taken an active and helpful interest in his community and was a good neighbor, a true friend and a Christian. A large concourse of sympathizing friends attended his funeral services.
