When a small child she came with the family to Ontario, Canada, where in 1860 she was united in Marriage to John Fitzpatrick. They moved to Lebanon, Clinton county, a few years after their marriage, and resided there until a few years ago when they purchased a home and moved to the village of Hubbardston. The husband died about a year ago and last week, the morning of March 19, they found her dead in bed. They received news the day before of the death of her son, Edmund, and it was a great shock to her in her feeble condition. She was the last one in her father’s family of six children to be called by death. She was the mother of ten children; two died in infancy, and the others are as follows: Mrs. Rose McDermott of Hubbardston, Mrs. Elizabeth Lawless of Portland, Edmund Fitzpatrick of Denver, Colo., now deceased, James Fitzpatrick of Hubbardston, Mrs. Ella Lawless of Portland, Mrs. Agnes Bower of Carson City, John Fitzpatrick of Hubbardston and Mrs. Etta Wright of Muir. She is survived by 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her son, Edmund, was born in Canada, Dec. 29, 1865 and died of pleural pneumonia in Denver, March 17, 1918, at the age of 52 years. He has been in Denver since 1885 and April 18, 1896 was married there. He is survived by his widow, who accompanied the remains here and will remain for a time with relatives here. A double funeral was held at the St. John’s Catholic church Friday, Rev. Fr. Doyle officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Fr. Ulenberg of Pewamo and Rev. Fr. Sheyan of Carson City. Besides the members of the immediate family above mentioned, the following relatives from away were present: John Lavelle, Miss Mary Lavelle and Mrs. James Lavelle of Wale, St. Clair county; Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Fitzpatrick, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Fitzpatrick of Clare; Wm. Fitzpatrick of Mt. Pleasant; Bernard Fitzpatrick from Camp Custer; Chas Piggott and wife of Pewamo; Mr. and Mrs. August Hafner and Ed Piggott and family of Fowler and a large circle of friends from the nearby towns.
