Ionia Weekly Standard – Friday 11 November 1892
Sunday evening, October 29th 1898 Warren Fitzsimmons died at his home in this 
city after an illness of four months.  Mr. Fitzsimmons was born in the state 
of New York, Allegany Co., May 10, 1833.  His early life was spent on a farm, 
but wishing to learn a trade at the age of 22 he went to Dundee, N.Y., where 
he learned the miller’s trade.  At the age of 23, he came to Ionia County, 
Michigan, where he has resided ever since, being one of the early pioneers.  
He was married June 28, 1864, to Mrs. Harriet Louise Gleason, a widow with a 
son and two daughters.  From this marriage were two children, Ida and Walter, 
both living.
For 23 years he was a miller in the City Mills, a man well known and respected 
by all who knew him.  He was upright, honest, and best known for his kindness 
to his own home.  He was patient in his affliction and ready and willing to 
die.  Two brothers, Calvin and Walter survive him, and while the children 
mourn the loss of a kind father, the wife a dear companion, the community 
mourn for one who has been upright in his dealings and when we consigned to 
him to his last resting place, we said “Peace to his soul.”
