Daily Sentinel - Monday, Feb. 6, 1922

Harriet L., wife of Warren Fitzsimmons, was born March 7, 1836, a Ithaca, N.Y., 
and passed on January 30, 1922, at Hastings, Mich.; was brought to Ionia and 
placed in the family lot in Highland Park cemetery.

She came to Michigan early in life with her husband, Jellah Gleason, and 
settled in Ionia. To this union three children were born; Charles F., of 
Tucson, Ariz.; Martha J., Hastings, Mich., and Sarah L., Belding, Mich. 

Mr. Gleason passed on early in life, leaving his widow with three little 
children, and after struggling along for a few years, she was married to Warren 
Fitzsimmons, an eastern gentleman, who came to Ionia and was interested in 
several of the flouring mills with Dexter, Welch, Blanchard, and Shenik. With 
the latter, he was miller for 21 connective years. Also for a time in the 
Valley City mills at Grand Rapids, Mich. 

He was interested in the Shenik mills at the time of his passing, October 30, 
1891.

To this union two children were born, Ida (Mrs. Archie McCoy) of Grand Rapids, 
Mich., and Walter C. of Mansfield, Ohio.

Mrs. Fitzsimmons was a very bright and sunny disposition, a great church 
worker, and dearly loved by all her friends and associates. About 25 years ago 
she went to Hastings, Mich., where she was engaged in business with her son and 
daughter, Walter and Ida, and where she made her home until her passing. She 
leaves to mourn her loss, five children, 10 grandchildren, seven great-
grandchildren, and a host of loving neighbors and friends.
