Fleckenstein, 80, died Monday morning in her retirement home on the shore of the Baldwin River near Baldwin, Michigan. She was born in Prairieville, Michigan on April 1, 1904 the daughter of Willis and Harriet Blanchard Perigo. She married Jackson G. Fleckenstein March 28, 1925 in Grand Rapids. They made their home in Grand Rapids and later moved to Ionia. The past several years she lived at her retirement home at Baldwin. She assisted her husband in a sales company, selling the first visible gasoline pumps. She was an avid sports woman. She did much hunting and fishing, a lot with her husband. She loved the out-of-doors, woods and wildlife. She made it a daily practice to feed the wildlife. Her husband preceded her in death October 9, 1963. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Surviving are two daughter, Joan Mizer and Jacqueline Wright, both of Baldwin; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Ariel Perigo of Kalamazoo. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Leddick Funeral Home with later internment in Highland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Ionia County Unit of the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be left at the Leddick Funeral Home.
