Minnie C. Flennery, 80, formerly of Sheridan, Greenville and Ruskin, Florida, 
passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 10, 2004 at Heartland 
Health Care Center, Ionia.  The daughter of Charles and Abbie Walters Oswald, 
she as born July 7, 1923 in Sidney.  In 1942 she married Otto L. Flennery.

Minnie was an excellent cook, loved to do crafts and enjoyed playing cards and 
board games.  She liked to spend time outdoors, especially fishing, and wasn’t 
shy about having the best catch of the day.  During her time at Heartland 
Health Care Center, she was blessed with the friendship of many of the staff, 
residents and their families.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Flennery, in 1990; five 
brothers, Carl, Theodore, Ernest, Bill and Earl; and three sisters, Alice, 
Katie and Anna.  She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Jon 
Brand of Sheridan; three grandchildren, Debra Brand-Camiot of Charlotte, North 
Carolina, Terri Brand-Font and her husband Troy Font of Lansing, David Brand of 
Sheridan; two great-granddaughters, Jessica Font of Lansing, Sarah Font of 
Delton; sister, Marian Larsen of Greenville, and four nieces and nephews.

No services will take place at this time.  Private interment is in Evergreen 
Township Cemetery near Sheridan.  A memorial gathering will take place in the 
summer and will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family 
suggests memorial contributions in Minnie’s memory be directed to either 
Heartland Hospice of Grand Rapids, the Make-A-Wish Foundation o r the charity 
of one’s choice.  Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, is 
serving the family and is entrusted with the arrangements.
