He was born in Collum, IL and moved with his family to Woodland,MI as a boy.He graduated as Valedictorian of his class at Woodland High School and Attended both Northwestern College in Illinois and Michigan State University for several semesters.He married Doris Bates Flessner in 1948 and they raised four children as well as two foster children. Eldon joined in a farming partnership with his father and brother to form H.G. Flessner and Sons. They owned and operated several farms in the Woodland area as well as having a partnership in a farm in Garden,MI in the upper peninsula where they bred and raised the first Summetol Cattle herd in Michigan. Eldon also served his community as an active member of Lakewood United Methodist Church working on several committees, with the youth group, and teaching adult Sunday School. He also served on the Lakewood School board for 12 years including the period in which the consolidation of four community schools became one district with one high school. He and Doris spent winters in the Baha Peninsula of Mexico for 10 or so years, and then settled in Sun City for the winters beginning in 2000. He served on the board of his HOA as well as taking part in a church community - United Church of Sun City. After the death of Doris in 2018, Eldon remained in Arizona year round. He is survived by his four children,Rob and Gayle Flessner, Ellyn and Ron Coppess, Lisa Dunbar and Paul Flessner. He enjoyed time with nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on June 9, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Lakewood Church.
