Ionia Sentinel, Monday, June 22, 1998

Ione Fletcher, 78, of Muir, passed away Saturday, June 20, 1998.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at the North Plains 
Community Church.  Interment will be at North Plains Cemetery.  Visitation will 
be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at 
Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City.

An Eastern Star memorial service will be held Monday evening at the funeral 
home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the North Plains Cemetery 
Association.

Ione was born Nov. 12, 1919 in Hastings, the daughter of Frank and Minnie 
(Lechieitner) Bryans.  She lived in Muir most of her adult life.  She married 
Maxwell Strachan in 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1971.  She married 
Russell Fletcher in 1972 and he preceded her in death this past March.

Ione was a 1938 graduate of Lake Odessa High School.  She was an active member 
of the Gleaners Society, Ionia County Farm Bureau and a homemakers group 
through the Ionia County Extension.  She was also a life member of the Eastern 
Star in Lyons.

She is survived by one son, Tom (Sally) Strachan of Muir; two daughters, Mary 
(Jim) Yeomans of Midland and Martha (Dave) Anderson of Sheridan; three 
stepsons, Paul (Annette) Fletcher of Concorde, N.H., Gary (Bernadette) Fletcher 
of Muir and George (Kim) Fletcher of Muir; three step-daughters, Marcia (Gary) 
Barnes of Portland, Carol (Larry) Wetherbee of Ionia and Sandra (Stanley) Kolp 
of Westphalia; a stepdaughter-in-law, Delores (Mark) Schmitt of Hubbardston; 31 
grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Herbert of Lake 
Odessa and Grace Walton of Hastings.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Max Strachan and Russell Fletcher; 
one sister, Winnie Shetterly and two brothers, John Bryans and Linden Bryans; a 
stepson, Robert Fletcher and two grandchildren Dennis Wetherbee and Sara 
Fletcher.
