She was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Hubbardston go to preceded. She retired from Brown Corp. in Ionia after 24 years of service. She was born on Oct. 9, 1941 to David and Bessie (Steele) Barens in Rudyard, Michigan. She spent the last 31 years of her life with Ronald Fletcher who preceded her in death on June 22, 2007. Dorothy had a green thumb and loved to be in her flower beds, she loved to play solitaire every night until she won, she was always reading something or doing a word search at her dining room table or watching the birds from her bay window. She loved keeping company with the folks at the American Legion in Hubbardston and was always there for her family and friends, making every occasion is special one with her love of cooking and baking. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and was always a familiar face at her grandchildren’s sporting events. She is survived by her three daughters, “The Eckley Girls”, Toni (Scott) Feehan of Muir, Teresa (John) Platte of Westphalia and Tina (Matt) Cook of Pewamo; nine grandchildren, Jeremy and Rachel Feehan, Bobby, Brandon, Brent and Chelsea Platte, Tracie (Nicholas) Wilson and Julissa and Michael Cook; one great granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Wilson; sisters, Margaret (Homer) Shute of Rudyard and Sally (Lou) Ceccacci of Tawas City; brother Leo (Donna) Barens of Dimondale; sisters-in-law Ruth Barens of Rudyard, Barbara Barens of Tawas City, Rita Frayer of St. Johns, Sharon (Lewis) Hagel of Eagle and Kathleen (Fred) Harold of Fenwick.; brothers-in-law Jerry (Donna) Fletcher of Hubbardston, Terry (Mary) Fletcher, Phil (Linda) Fletcher, Richard Fletcher and Mark (Kay) Fletcher all of Muir and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Charles and Joe Barens, Brothers-in-law Roger Fletcher and Wesley Frayer and nephew Billie Frayer. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Johns the Baptist Church in Hubbard stint with Father Tony Vainavicz celebrant. Interment St. John The Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Muir.
