The Ionia Daily Standard, Thursday, June 19, 1902

Johnnie, the 3-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Florence, living in one of 
the help houses on the E. P. Kelsey farm, was frightfully scalded on Wednesday 
morning, at about 10 o’clock, and died at 4 o’clock in the afternoon.  The 
little fellow was playing around a wash-boiler full of water, and fell in.  
Interment was today.  The little fellow was a grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Will 
Wedge.
