Mrs. Letha J. Flory Victim of Suicide

Mrs. Letha J. Flory, 46, route 2, Woodland, took her own life early Thursday 
morning at her farm home. She had been despondent since the death of her husband 
Oscar two weeks ago.

Since the death of Mr. Flory a step granddaughter, Joanne, 16, had been staying 
with her and told officers she heard a shot and notified a neighbor, Mrs. Grace 
Olmstead, who called the sheriff.

Investigating were Merl Campbell, Carry county sheriff and Dr. Douglas 
Castlemen, deputy medical examiner, of Hastings. 

Mrs. Flory was born in Hastings and graduated from high school there in 1932. 
She married Mr. Flory in 1934.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Arloa) Trainer and Mrs. Gordon (Virginia) 
Utter, both of Hastings; one step-son, Gordon Flory of Mulliken, a step 
daughter, Mrs. Gaylord (Bernita) Gardner of Vermontville and six step 
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens Funeral 
chapel with burial in the Fuller cemetery, Barry County.
