Elory had been ill much of the time following a stroke of two years ago. Everything was done for him that could be done to restore his health but all efforts failed and the collapse came as mentioned above, and the young man, who was looked upon as the staff upon which his parents would lean in their declining years, was taken away. The funeral was largely attended at the parents’ home, Friday. Rev. R. L. Boadway, his pastor, assisted by Rev. A. L. Hoffman had charge of the services. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Mourer had charge of the music. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. Those from out of town to attend the unreal were Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Blakely and family of Kalamazoo; Mr. and Mrs. David Garfield and Mr. and Mrs. P. Peterson of Lowell; Mr. and Mrs. William Garfield, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Palmer, Mrs. James Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Taylor, Mrs. Nellie Otis, Mrs. Helen Adgate, Mrs. Evelyn Jepson, Mrs. Harriet Poole, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Turner and daughter and Mrs. Ina Turner of Saranac; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Garfield of Middleville; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Snider, Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas and Miss Mary Nichols of Lansing; Mrs. Adolph Miller and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Sherwood and family , Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sherwood and daughter of Ionia, and Carl Reese of Grand Rapids. Elory Frank Foght, only son of Frank and Etta Foght, was born in Odessa township on July 19, 1886, and died July 4, 1934, at the age of 47 years, 11 months and 15 days. He obtained his education in the Lake Odessa high school. He was a faithful member of the First U. B. Sunday school. He preferred his home life above anything else, but was always willing to help any one in need. He was a patient sufferer of complication of diseases for over two years but died with the great hope of going home. He leaves to mourn their loss his parents, four sisters, Mrs. Lera Blakely of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Verna Cooley, Mrs. Maysel Rush of this place, and Dorotha at home; nine nephews and two nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.
