L. Foght, took flight to its God never to return again, as it had returned to its home from where it had come there to receive the reward for having served her master so long and so faithfully. Mrs. Foght had been in poor health from diabetes for the past year or more but had not been confined to her bed until just lately when she was compelled to do so on account of a little greater attack of it but, she had begun to make slight improvements when the grippe set in thus making her further cease her labors, and eventually to do so for all time. “Tis with a great degree of sadness that we chronicle such events, but often as is the case here a little of that is overshadowed in the knowledge of the fact that their life has been well spent then labors well done, they have fought the good fight and at last have finished their earthly labors in the satisfaction of the all-ruling power. And especially was it so with the deceased she having been converted to the Christian faith in early life and was united to the West Odessa United Brethren church of Christ having been a faithful member ever since. She also was a prominent member of the societies of that church thus carrying on the work with an almost tireless effort which was so characteristic of her. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the house an extra large number of relatives, neighbors and friends being present. The services were in charge of the Rev. W. J. Prestidge who was assisted by the Rev. J. C. Stone of Woodbury. The music was furnished by the choir of the local Congregational church. Sarah Elizabeth Hunt was born in Odessa township Nov. 21, 1853 and died Mar. 13, 1911. She was united in marriage to Marcus Foght July 3, 1874 and they settled on the farm which, with the exception of three years spent in Lake Odessa, has ever since been their home and where she so peacefully passed away. To this union were born four children, three of whom survive and were present in the last hours. The only son, Ernie, passed to the beyond Feb. 13, 1883. The three daughters, Mrs. Ina Gattner of Campbell, Mrs. Nelle Otis of Saranac and Mrs. Artie MacIntosh of Grand Rapids, will sorely miss the love and devotion of mother. The three grandchildren also will miss a loving grandmother, one grandson preceding her to the better land by about a year. Beside the sorrowing husband and children, she leaves to mourn her loss, three brothers, Eugene, George and Frank Hunt, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Culp. Mrs. Foght united with the West Odessa United Brethren church in 1884, and has ever since remained a faithful Christian until death relieved her of her suffering which has extended over several years. She will be greatly missed by the many relatives and a host of friends throughout the country, but who will be comforted by the knowledge that she is happy with the loved ones who have gone on before. Card of Thanks: We wish to express our sincerest gratitude to the friends who so kindly gave us their help and sympathy in our recent bereavement. Also we thank the choir for their kindly service and to the many who sent floral offerings we are truly grateful. To Rev. Prestidge we give our heartiest thanks for his cheering words and kind attention. M.L. Foght Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Gattner Mr. and Mrs. Lee Otis Mr. and Mrs. M. L.
