Gerald R. “Jerry” Forist, 64, of Crystal, passed away Monday, July 5, 2004 at 
his home.  Jerry was born February 12, 1940 in Ionia, the son of George and 
Anna Houseman Forist. 

He lived in the Crystal area most of his life.  Hhe married Kristi Wonch on 
December 7, 1974.  Jerry worked for Chrysler’s Lyons Trim Plant for 18 years, 
retiring in 1979.  He also worked for Crystal Township for five years.  He was 
a member of the UAW and a life member of Central Michigan Sportsman’s Club.

He was preceded in death by sister, Edith VanOrden; and brother, Mike Forist.  
Jerry is survived by his wife, Kris; seven children, Adella Forist of Florida, 
Terry Forist, Gary Forist, both of Ionia, Melissa Forist of Sparta, Michelle 
Forist of Grand Rapids, Jessica Forist of Edmore, Amanda Forist of Greenville; 
15 grandchildren; and five brothers, Jim Forist of Greenville, Bud Forist of 
Saranac, George Forist of Georgia, Don Forist of Greenville and Joe Forist of 
Lansing.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Crystal.  
Interment is in Crystal Township Cemetery.  Visitation is from noon until the 
time of services Thursday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Forist 
family.
