The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, January 1, 2000
Michael “Mike” Forist, 51, of Orleans, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at 
home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1948, in Ionia to George and Anna Houseman Forist.

Mike was a corrections officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections and 
was a member of the Belding Bible Church.

On May 17, 1972, in Las Vegas, he married Laura Jones and she survives, along 
with their children, Michelle and Duane Spicer, Michalean and Michael McGraw, 
all of Ionia, Michael B. Forist II, Machel Jones, both of Orleans, Donna Jo 
Forist, Bridget Forist and Bradley Michael Forist, all of Ionia, Matthew 
Brandon Forist of Orleans, and one step-daughter, Lois Jones of Belding.  Mike 
is also survived by four grandchildren, six brothers and one sister, Bud, 
Jerry, George, Jim, Don, Joe and Edith.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard Forist.

Funeral and committal services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Johnson-
Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Kenneth  Martin officiating.  
Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens.  Visitation was on Monday from 2 
p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
