He was born August 18, 1937 in Sunfield, the son of Robert and Ruth (Noyes) Forshey. He graduated from Sunfield High School in 1956 and served in the United States Navy from 1956 - 1962. He was married to Laurine Walkington Shorts in Ionia, this ended in divorce. He later married to Alice VandeCar in 1972 in Woodland. He owned and operated a saw mill, worked at Keeler Brass, owned and operated his own semi tractor-trailer and for the last 13 years worked at the EBI in Lake Odessa. Mr. Forshey was Worthy Master of the Lakeside Grange #1693 and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Forshey. He is survived by his wife, Alice; five children, Darla Forshey of Lake Odessa, Mark Forshey of Ionia, Brett VandeCar of Lake Odessa, David (Amy) VandeCar of Lake Odessa and Daniel VandeCar of Lake Odessa; two grandchildren, Shelbie Joe VandeCar and Courtnie Lynn VandeCar; one brother, Vance (Karen) Forshey of Grand Rapids; one sister Sheila (Fred) VanVleck of Sunfield. Funeral services were held Monday, March 10, 1997 at the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. Rev. George Speas, Clifford Lazarus and Zeke Peters officiated. Interment took place at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakewood Community Ambulance.
